My First Juried Art Exhibit

Today I am traveling to Seattle for an artists reception at the Seattle Convention Center.  It sounds so ridiculous to me because a year ago I would never have dreamed of having a Facebook page for my photography much less submitting my images for a juried photo competition and actually getting my image selected! But that is what happened.  I entered a photo of my favorite street in Spokane for an exhibit called “Walking the Neighborhoods” about favorite neighborhoods in the state of Washington.  I had kind of forgotten about it to be honest.  One day I opened up the mailbox and there was the letter of congratulations.  So it is a big deal for me personally 🙂  I took this image last February during blue hour after sunset with my Lensbaby Sweet 35.  Probably one of my very favorite lenses!

If you are ever wandering around downtown Spokane spend some time on the block of Main Street between Division and Browne.  You can wander through the awesome vintage shop called Chosen, see an interesting film at the quaint Magic Lantern Theater, buy some gorgeous flowers at Parrish and Grove and a coffee and something sweet at the Common Crumb Bakery.  Not to mention dining at any of the cool bars and restaurants on the block with patios adorned with festive lights.
